Crosstab

The Crosstab is a slide type available to add to any pack

Similar to the Boxgrid, this slide type also plots an aggregated value displayed by two properties in rows and columns

It allows the values displayed at the intersection of each row and column property to be colored by a third property to add a further dimension to the visualization

By default, when a new Crosstab slide is added to a pack it will display a single square depicting the count of records in the dataset

It contains a number of options on the slide panel to adjust the visualization:

Color By

Selecting a property to Color by segments the values displayed at the intersection of each column and row into colored blocks

To add color to the Crosstab:

image

  1. Open the Color by dropdown and select the Property to color by
  2. Select the required color palette from the Color Control
  3. The Crosstab will then be colored by the selected property
  4. Hovering the mouse pointer over any of the individual colored blocks will reveal a pop-up window that summarizes the data in that block

Color By Heatmap

The color by heatmap option will shade the crosstab cells based on the value displayed in the cells using either:

image

Single Color

When the single color selection is applied to the color by heatmap option:

image

  1. The selected color from the color chart is used
  2. To represent the property selected as the Value for the crosstab
  3. Larger numbers are shown in darker shades of the color

Palette

When the palette color selection is applied to the color by heatmap option:

image

  1. The palette used may be selected from the available Sequential palettes
  2. To represent the property selected as the Value for the crosstab
  3. By default smaller values will display color on left of palette with largest displaying as color on right
  4. The Reverse option may be selected
  5. To reverse the palette applied to the crosstab

Chart Options

Aggregates only

By default, the Aggregates Only option will be selected so that the nodes at the intersection of each row and column to be represented by a single aggregate block

Switching the slider off for this option will display individual node cards

image

With the slider in the off position additional options are available to adjust the visualization:

image

  • A. Aggregate Only On/Off
  • B. Card Type: Default to Node card type (Not amendable)
  • C. Title: Defaults to Label Property. Select alternative from property list to display on pop up card when hovering over node
  • D. Max number of cards: Slider control to define the max number of node cards to be displayed within an intersection of row and column
  • E. If the number of nodes exceeds the max set value an Aggregate block will be displayed

Show Totals

Option to display row and column totals

Select the Show totals checkbox to display totals for rows and columns

image

Scale Globally

Enabling the Scale globally option will size the blocks shown at each intersection based on their size relative to other values displayed

If the color by option has also been used, then the individual colored blocks will be sized relative to other values too

image

  1. Select the Scale toggle switch
  2. Values in crosstab will be sized based on value relative to other values

Swap Axis

The swap axis function is available on both the Column and Row area of the slide panel, and it simply swaps the column and row properties on the X and Y axis of the crosstab

Either button may be used to swap the axis with the same effect

Node Editing

Blocks of nodes or individual nodes at each intersection may be edited by dragging and dropping onto other node blocks to update values

See Editing Nodes on Crosstab for more details

Export Crosstab

When exporting a Crosstab slide to PowerPoint all objects within the PowerPoint are editable by double-clicking the object
