Editing Nodes

Nodes may be edited in four places within a pack

  1. Data Tab
  2. Worksheet Slide
  3. Tree Slide
  4. Crosstab

Data Tabโ€‹

The Data tab on the right-hand panel allows you to further analyze and, if required, edit the data in your dataset

You can view node data here if you have selected a node, or a summary of data if multiple nodes have been selected

It contains:

  2. Properties
  3. Slide Properties
  4. Other Properties
  5. Expand Data Panel

Nodes Selected on Data Panelโ€‹

Selecting a node on the canvas will also select the node on the data panel

Additional nodes can be added to the data panel by selecting them on the canvas or dragging to the node area

Nodes that have been selected on the data panel can be selected independently of those selected on the canvas

Propertiesโ€‹

The properties area of the data panel contains

  1. Count of properties currently displayed
  2. Search for property name
  3. Filter properties displayed
  4. Add properties to Other Properties

Slide Propertiesโ€‹

The slide properties area of the data panel will automatically display the properties being displayed on the the current slide

Adding or removing properties to the current slide or changing slides will update the properties displayed in this area

Other Propertiesโ€‹

The other properties area will display any properties other than those on the slide that have been added to the data panel

To add a property to this area

  1. Select the + button
  2. This will open the Show or hide properties panel
  3. Select the check box for any property to add it to the data panel
  4. Select the close panel -> arrow or click anywhere on the canvas to close the panel
  5. The selected properties will now be shown on the data panel

To remove a property from the other properties area simply click the - button on the property that will appear when moving the mouse over it

Expand Data Panelโ€‹

The data panel may be expanded or collapsed to enable property values to be viewed and edited easier

The expand and collapse buttons on the data panel enable 3 data panel states, collapsed, standard and extended

Edit Single Node on Data Tabโ€‹

  1. With no nodes selected on the canvas, no data detail will show on the Data Tab
  2. Selecting a single node on the canvas displays the data for each property on the data tab that appears on the slide or has been added to the Other properties area
  3. To edit the data held in any property double click into the data cell to activate and make the required change
  4. After editing the data press enter to confirm the change

Edit Multiple Nodes on Data Tabโ€‹

  1. If multiple nodes are selected on the canvas, they will initially be selected on the data panel but may unchecked without affecting canvas selection
  2. Properties shown will match those displayed on the slide canvas and any Other properties that have been added
  3. The property values provides a summary for the selected nodes
  4. Hovering over the displayed summary value for any property will reveal a dropdown menu selector
  5. Opening this menu will provide summary statistics for the currently selected nodes

It is also possible to edit all the individual data values for a property for the selected nodes by double-clicking the data cell to edit it, The new value to be applied to all selected nodes can be entered in the edit property window and saved by clicking the tick icon

Edit nodes on worksheetโ€‹

Single nodes may be edited on a worksheet by:

  1. Selecting the required cell to make it active
  2. Type the new cell value
  3. Press Enter to update

Editable Worksheet

Edit nodes on tree slideโ€‹

Single or multiple node may be edited on a tree slide by:

  1. Setting the Card Type to Summary and adding any properties to edit
  2. Select the node(s) on the tree. See Selecting Nodes for the different methods for selecting nodes
  3. Right-click on a blank area of canvas to open menu
  4. Select Edit
  5. The edit window will open containing any properties shown on the summary card for selected nodes to enable editing of the values

Edit nodes on Crosstabโ€‹

Nodes on a crosstab slide may be edited by dragging and dropping aggregate blocks of nodes or individual nodes from one intersection of the crosstab to another

Doing this will edit the node values for the properties displayed on the crosstab

Aggregates Node Blocksโ€‹

To edit aggregate node blocks on a crosstab slide:

  1. Select a node blocks
  2. Drag the nodes and drop them onto the new intersection of the crosstab
  3. The edit node window will be shown confirming the property values being applied to listed nodes

In this example the 12 nodes highlighted will have their values for following properties edited:

Individual Node Cardsโ€‹

To edit individual nodes on a crosstab:

  1. Set the Aggregate only toggle switch to off
  2. Hover the mouse over the required node to display the Node card
  3. Drag the node and drop it onto the new intersection of the crosstab
  4. The edit node window will be shown confirming the property values being applied to the node

It is also possible to drag nodes from a crosstab onto the Footer

Data type validationโ€‹

When entering or editing data into number, date and Boolean fields Orgvue will prevent the entry of an incorrect data types
